One of the interesting feature of Sailung is that is it formed of rolling hills and with hundreds of small hillocks and each peak is beauty in itself.

Sailung Valley is located in the north-east of Kathmandu Valley at an altitude of 3,146 meters. Tamangs are predominant with few households of Magars and Sherpa. There are two routes to the Dolakha District while travelling from Kathmandu: one route is about 140 kilometres via Kadichaur if one takes Lamu Sanghu-Jiri Highway. Some of the towns in this route are: Banepa, Dhulikhel, Dolal-Ghat, Lamo-Sangu, Khadi Chaur, and Mude. If taken Banepa-Charikot Highway the total distance is about 20 additional Kilometers making 160 kilometers. Dhurikhel, kurkut, and Khumiti are the towns on this route.
